Introduction
Here you will learn about the origins of Hinduism, Sanskrit, Vedas, the caste system, karma, Dharma, Samsara, and Brahman. There are several beliefs about the origin of Hinduism, because it began before recorded history. One belief is that India's original settlers brought the religion, and some people also believe in the second millennium B.C.E, Aryans brought Hinduism to India. You can find traces of Hinduism in many artifacts too. Many people believe Hinduism started with Vedism, and you can find out about that from Vedas, which were recordings. Vedas include Hindu prayers, teachings, and hymns written in Sanskrit, an ancient language of India. The Hindu caste system was an invention of society which had four major classes, Brahman, Samsara, Dharma, and Karma. Over time, the Untouchables became another class, they were the lowest of the caste system. The untouchables had to do many dirty jobs, and often many Hindus tried to avoid them. Gandhi fought for equality for the Untouchables, many people thought the caste system was unfair. "The caste system served its purpose in ancient times but does not fit in our democracy, equality and others." Hinduism accepts people of all nations and races, but have lost millions of followers because of the caste system. However, it continues to shape the life of people of India, how to worship, types of jobs and food they eat, influencing every part of life in India. Modern Hindus continue to visit temples, give thanks, and take part in rituals.
